A department store in Osaka is counting on an android sales assistant to boost its bottom line.

Android: “Thank you for coming today.”

Minami was developed by a professor at Osaka University.

It was hired by the Takashimaya department store as part of a summer fashion event.
Customers can interact with the well-mannered attendant using a touch panel.

Android: "Looking at you, I think harvest or permanent colors would contrast most favorably with your face. Based on these colors, here’s a set of items I would recommend."

Minami will be advising customers until May 20th.
