Jetliner descends dangerously low
A plane belonging to a Japanese budget airline descended dangerously low ahead of landing on Monday.
The Peach Aviation jet reportedly flew as low as 75 meters above the sea after the pilot believed controllers had told him to lower his altitude.
Japanese aviation officials say the plane had to take an evasive maneuver to raise its elevation after an alarm sounded.
The jet was about to touch down in Okinawa from Japan’s southern Ishigaki island.
Japan’s transport ministry is investigating the incident.
Peach recently underwent a round of restructuring to restore profitability.
