Keio U. starts globalized program
A leading university in Japan is launching a new program in which all classes will be held in English.
Keio University will start the program from fall, 2016. Japanese universities traditionally begin in spring.
Keio says it will recruit about 100 students for the economics department.
Instead of its own tests, Keio will use global standards such as the International Baccalaureate degree or TOEFL exam.
Students can obtain both bachelors and master’s degrees in five years.
Universities in Japan are trying to reshape their approaches to prepare young Japanese to compete in the global economy and attract more foreign applicants.
