One thousand dolls on display
A massive show of 1,000 dolls is wowing visitors at a museum in central Japan.
The traditional dolls, known as hina-ningyo, are displayed each year ahead of an annual
doll festival.
It took 20 employees over three days to place the dolls sit on a six-meter-high, 30-level
platform.
Paper lanterns and peach blossoms were lined up to form a heart-shaped pattern across
the platform.
The Folk Doll Museum’s collection includes 6,000 traditional dolls made since the 19th
century.
Each March third, people in Japan celebrate a doll festival in which elaborate dolls are
displayed to bring growing girls health and happiness.
