Sexist jeers aimed at a female speaker by members of the Tokyo assembly are causing waves in Japan today.

Your Party member Ayaka Shiomura was giving a speech on women’s issues.

She was calling for the assembly to assist women with childbirth, childrearing, and fertility treatments.

Two male assembly members yelled out insults during her presentation.

Remarks included, “you should get married!” and “you can’t have children of your own?”

The comments are being treated as sexual harassment.

Representatives are calling the remarks “classless.”

Female assembly members say they are planning speeches to respond to the incident.
