Radiation manga going on hiatus
A Japanese manga under fire for depicting radiation poisoning in Fukushima is taking a break from publication.
In last week’s installment, a lead character in “Oishinbo” got a nosebleed from a visit to Fukushima Daiichi.
Prefectural authorities complained, saying the depiction is misleading and damaging.
This week’s comic is the last in the current storyline.
Editors address criticism, including opinions from Fukushima’s government, in a special section.
After this installment, “Oishinbo” will go on hiatus for an undetermined period of time.
