With temperatures rising, rice planting is underway in central Japan.

Farmers in Shizuoka Prefecture are sowing seeds of a delicious local variety.

They help each other with the spring planting.

The seedlings developed slowly amid this year’s cold temperatures.

But recent warm weather in Japan has them back on track.

The rice will be ready for harvest in time for Japan’s August summer holidays.
