Tokyo says goodbye to rainy days
The rainy season is likely over in the Kanto-Koshin region of eastern Japan, which includes the greater Tokyo metropolitan area.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said on Tuesday that it believes the rainy season has ended. The nation’s rainy season starts at the southern tip of Japan and works its way north over time. Overall, it typically lasts for about a month and a half.
This year, the wet season brought as much as double the typical amount of rain. It also lasted 16 days longer than last year, and a day longer than average in the greater Tokyo metropolitan area.
Clear skies and hot temperatures had Tokyoites seeking shade. With temperatures expected to top 30 degrees Celsius next week, people are urged to be wary of heatstroke.
