Typhoon Neoguri kills boy in Nagano mudslide
A 12-year-old boy died in a mudslide in Nagano Prefecture Wednesday evening as powerful typhoon Neoguri continues to lash Japan.
The boy was at home with his family in Nagiso town when the mudslide swallowed their house.
The season's eighth typhoon has already left several people dead and injured dozens since Monday.
Heavy rain is expected to continue in Nagano Thursday evening.
More than 200 residents are now at a shelter.
Weather officials say the typhoon is now moving east at 35km per hour.
They say Neoguri will pass through central Japan on Friday.
As of late Thursday night the typhoon was still packing heavy rain and winds of up to 120 kilometers per hour.
Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways have already canceled over 160 flights.
