Zozoji fire drill
It’s not everyday that you see Buddhist monks joining a fire drill.
Monks at an ancient temple in Tokyo today (Thursday) practiced rushing their prized relics to safety.
The monks shouted “fire” and hurried to move objects out of harm’s way before firefighters doused the temple.
The temple, named Zojoji, was built by the Tokugawa shoguns and houses many priceless artworks.
The drill was conducted under the assumption that an earthquake had hit Tokyo, sparking a fire at the temple.
