Abe, Hollande slate nuclear cooperation
Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and French President Francois Hollande have agreed to work together on a new generation of nuclear reactors.
Abe is in Paris in the middle of a week-long European tour.
Abe and Hollande agreed their countries would jointly develop new fast-breeder reactors that produce less nuclear waste.
Japan’s nuclear reactors are currently offline in the wake of the 2011 Fukushima meltdowns, but Abe wants restart them after safety checks.
Abe said France and Japan have a special partnership that aids peace, development and cultural progress worldwide.
