Abe in Trinidad and Tobago
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is visiting Trinidad and Tobago, where he met with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar to discuss the development of natural gas resources.
To kick off their press conference, Persad-Bissessar presented Abe with a locally-made steel drum, an instrument originating from the island country.
Both sides indicated they are working to strengthen both diplomatic and economic ties.
Later on his trip, Abe will meet with the leaders of 14 Caribbean nations to seek support in gaining a seat on the UN Security Council.
