Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe tried to sell the world on his Abenomics program in a speech at Davos today (Thursday).
Abe told leaders gathered for the World Economic Forum that Japan was back.

“Pundits used to say that Japan was at dusk or the land of the setting sun. Our growth rate has changed dramatically from negative growth to positive. In six years’ time, the Olympics will come to Tokyo. People are now more vibrant and upbeat. It is not twilight but a new dawn that is breaking over Japan.”
It was the first time for a Japanese prime minister to deliver the keynote speech at Davos.
Abe stressed his plans for a corporate income tax and increased participation by women in the economy as ways to boost growth in Japan.
Investors are waiting to see if Abe can deliver on his plans to reform Japan’s economy.
