Louvre’s Winged Victory restored to original lustre
A newly repaired Winged Victory statue is back at Paris’s Louvre museum.
One of the museum’s three great treasures was shown off after being cleaned and treated for discoloration.
The statue known as Winged Victory represents the Greek goddess Nike.
A French diplomat discovered it on the Greek island of Samothrace in 1863.
A team of experts funded by groups including Japan’s NTV spent ten months restoring the statue’s marble to its original sparkle.
