"Dragon Quest" Live Spectacle Tour Summer 2016
Dragon Quest Live Spectacle Tour, produced and brought to you by Nippon Television Network Corporation (Nippon TV), comes this summer in five major arenas throughout Japan. Based on the nationally-acclaimed role playing game "Dragon Quest," which marks its 30th anniversary this year, this original arena show is the first of its kind in Japan and is a live entertainment event that enables audience participation.

The "Dragon Quest" game series has sold over 66 million copies since its first release in 1986. With scenario writer and game designer Yuji Horii's revolutionary depiction of the player's alter ego as the main character who embarks on adventures, character designer Akira Toriyama's captivating characters and monsters, and composer Koichi Sugiyama's music that creates a world beyond the realms of traditional games, "Dragon Quest" continues to capture the hearts of fans across all generations.
In the same way that the game enables the player to put their hopes on and name their main character, the show allows the audience to feel as if they themselves were the main character by emphasizing the meaning behind the name they have given. The show is designed to drastically escalate the emotions of the audience at the climax of the story. Dragon Quest Live Spectacle Tour is more than just a mega-scale show--it is a production borne out of the passion to depict a deeply dramatic story.
The show is directed by Kahori Kanaya, who is famous for her work on many famous theme parks and shows in Japan. The stage is designed by Stufish Entertainment Architects, led by Ray Winkler, who are known for the Beijing Olympics Opening Ceremony and live stage sets for numerous world-renowned artists.
In the same way that playing a game can take you on a trip throughout the world, Dragon Quest Live Spectacle Tour takes you into a world of adventure right from your seat. Screens that change shape and move freely around the entire arena convert the entire space into something reminiscent of a scene from a theme park, immediately inviting the audience to embark on an adventure. This is a never-before-seen show that blends together the most cutting-edge video technology with acrobatics from top performers, putting before your very own eyes battles against monsters and many enchanting scenarios that you yourself can experience.
