Comment from JSL Global Media (Executive Producer Mr. Thiti Sutthikulphanich)
"We are very proud of this achievement. Especially, because our version of Mother is the only TV series from Thailand winning the ATA award this year. We would like to thank LINE TV (Thailand) for their trust in us. Letting us introduce this touching drama to the Thai audiences. Thanks also to Nippon-TV and Mr. Yuji Sakamoto for creating such a wonderful story. And last but not least, I want to thank all the actors, actresses and the whole production crews for their dedication and professionalism. Without their support, we would not be able to complete our project during the COVID-19 pandemic. It was a very challenging project with a lot of uncertainties. So, if not because everyone played their parts twice as hard. We would not be able to achieve this. So big thank you again for the whole team."
ABOUT MOTHER
Child abuse is arguably one of the cruelest of crimes. Just as horrendous is the all-too common tendency of society to turn a blind eye to this abuse. Mother is the story of a woman who responds to an abused girl's silent cries of help. The drama follows an aloof 30+-year-old woman who works reluctantly as an elementary school teacher and notices bruises on her first-grade student. Initially, like everyone else, she looks the other way. But the student's wretched desperation soon awakens a passion and determination in this caring teacher. Together they skip town and embark on a risky journey pretending to be mother and child. Mother chronicles the transformation of a once disenchanted woman who suddenly takes on the role of a parent to a child who is starved for maternal love. The drama probes into the meaning of motherhood in modern society.
The script of Nippon TV’s Mother is written by the multiple award-winning Mr. Yuji Sakamoto. He has also penned Woman -My Life for My Children- as well as anone, all available as scripted formats.
