MF YAPIM TO PRODUCE TURKISH VERSION “TAÇSIZ PRENSES”

TOKYO, JAPAN – January 10, 2023 – Having captured the Annual Individual Viewer Ratings Triple Crown title for the 12th consecutive year in 2022 and having already announced seven scripted format deals for Turkey, Nippon TV, Japan's leading multiplatform entertainment powerhouse, announced today that FOX Turkey is set to start airing Taçsız Prenses, the Turkish version of its hit series Without Family, on January 10th, 2023. Produced by MF Yapim, one of the leading production companies in Turkey and written by the scriptwriters of “Mucize Doktor/A Miracle” (Turkish version of Good Doctor), the title “Taçsız Prenses” means “crownless princess” in Turkish.

Without Family became a phenomenon in Japan when it aired on Nippon TV and went on to become a feature film grossing over 1 billion yen, followed by a successful second season on Nippon TV. The format was also adapted into games, novels, and comic books. The final episode received record breaking ratings and the child star gained national popularity, lasting until this day. This is the first time that the title has been adapted as a scripted format.

Nippon TV's Mother and Woman –My Life for My Children- (Anne and Kadin in Turkey, Spanish titles are Madre and Mujer) were also produced by MF Yapim and Medyapim and air in many countries around the world, creating a phenomenon wherever it airs. Mother is ranked as the most exported scripted format out of Asia to the world, according to research by K7 Media.

ABOUT TAÇSIZ PRENSES
Masal is a 9-year-old girl who grew up with a caressing mother, Şirin. However, her mother became terminally ill and her only salvation is an incredibly expensive surgery. This turned Masal into a fierce, vicious girl who can do any bad thing. Her stepfather, Ferit, is an irresponsible, alcoholic swindler and Masal has to do her best to collect the money for her mother's surgery alone. Her mother's recovery from the hospital and living with her again is Masal's dream and purpose.
The Uncrowned Princess is for those who keep their inner child alive; a family story that is sometimes dark and brutally realistic, but even in the darkest moment, it always contains a ray of hope, and seeks and keeps alive the little miracles in life. A very familiar, yet innovative, modern fairy tale.

ABOUT WITHOUT FAMILY
A young girl's mother is confined to the hospital with a serious illness and her adoptive father is a violent drunkard. Her teacher tries to be there for her as her classmates look down on her for being poor, but she lashes out at him, saying “If you pity me then give me money!”. Desperate to get money for her mother's surgery, she learns to steal and do other bad things. When her mother comes to spend some time at home and her adoptive father becomes extremely abusive, she sets out to kill him by burning their apartment down. From this moment on, her life is full of troubles, but she stays strong amidst the misfortunes.
