Using "1-SEG" for Demonstration Experiment of Innovative Sample Advertising Seamless advertising via "1-SEG" proves connection to buying behavior

Nippon Television Network Corporation
NTT DoCoMo, Inc.

Nippon Television Network Corporation (hereafter referred to as "NTV"; headquartered in Minato Ward, Tokyo; Representative Director and President Shintaro Kubo) and NTT DoCoMo, Inc. (hereafter referred to as "NTT DoCoMo"; headquartered in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo; President & CEO Masao Nakamura) have jointly conducted a demonstration experiment of an innovative sample advertising method using "1-SEG."

This advertising experiment targets those who view NTV's "1-SEG" and who will be able to automatically store a coupon onto their handset via datacasting , which will lead them to participate in a sampling campaign to obtain a free can of newly-marketed coffee produced by Coca-Cola (Japan). Conventionally, the viewer himself would need to seek out information about the campaign - from watching a commercial, accessing the campaign Web site via a search engine or directly inputting the URL into the browser.

The companies are jointly offering a coupon, which will be automatically stored in the "1-SEG info" function of the cell phone as part of a campaign for users of "1-SEG." In this way, we are making possible an alternate method of advertising to facilitate easier access to campaign sites. Furthermore, this experiment realizes seamless advertising through the collaboration of Coca-Cola (Japan)'s Cmode-compatible vending machines (called Cmode) to connect "1-SEG" to the "campaign site" to "purchasing the product."

*Experimental advertising period: September 11 (Tuesday) through September 25 (Tuesday)

This experiment leverages the functions of "1-SEG" to develop an effective advertising tool that converges broadcasting and communications in a simple, convenient and enjoyable way.
